I absolutely love my little sister Katie. She is so adorable and sweet! The other day, while at work, i recieved a call from her supervisor letting me know that Katie had been hurt at work and that she was off to the E.R. Now the reason why i was called is because my parents just so happened to be out of town. I was like "what the perfect time for them to be gone!!" Not that it was a burden in any way. I would have gone to the E.R. and taken care of her regardless...it's just nicer when you have your parents there to give their support. Anyway so i called my boss and Mike and i rushed off to the E.R.
This is what happened. She was at work on a windy Thursday afternoon. She was rotating from deep (surf-n-swim people will know exactly what i mean when i say deep.) to baby and in the process she took down the umbrella because it was windy. Those umbrellas are huge and have a lot of power when wind is involved. Anyway while she was taking it down her supervisor told her to put it back up because, and i quote, "it will take alot to get these lifeguard stands to fall down." Anyway so she put it back up. While at 1st chair a huge gust of wind came through, caught the umbrella, and it knocked the entire stand over with her on it. (these lifeguard stands are about 10ft high) So since her supervisor was a retard (when i worked there, if there was ever any type of wind at all we were to take the umbrellas down) she hit the cement and luckily didn't hit her head (or there would be a HUGE lawsuit) only her arm. She was rushed to the E.R. by ambulance (I'm not totally sure why??) because i guess she might have hit her head.
Anyway I got to the E.R. and about 4 hours later we finally got the X-Rays back and she has a broken elbow and pinkie finger. They had to do surgery on her the next day to fix the problems and now she is doing fine. I am just so thankful that nothing more serious happened and i really hope that surf-n-swim teaches their supervisors a little better about pool safety!!!
This is Katie in the E.R.
